Here is a personal build from a few years ago:
1963 Thunderbird – 2018 Barn Find Restoration
This car came out of Strasburg, CO., and it had sat for several years before it was brought back to life. It has good compression on all eight, but was a rough around the edges from several touch-ups to help keep it from rusting. The engine was pulled out, refurbished, the transmission rebuilt, new two-tone paint, upholstery, and suspension work done.
The only rust in the car was in the battery tray and passenger rear tail light bucket. It’s is running the factory hydraulic wipers that operate off of the power steering pump, and has a break away steering column to make entry and exit of the vehicle easier! A couple unique features of this model. This was done as a driver and will still need some finishing touches to the interior and wiring down the line to make it a full restoration. .
I recommend that most of the cars this age have a new harness installed due to the cracking of insulation that is common, and to prevent any loss due to electrical shorts, and fire.

The car was running well enough to drive home, but the transmission was slipping on the way back to the shop.

I found part of a build tag under the driver’s bucket seat and the build sheet under the rear bench.

There weren’t too many upgrades to the original configuration other than a two-tone paint job (this is the correct color blue for the car with the paint code), aftermarket carburetor, and some chrome 17″ rims. I was trying to keep things looking pretty close to how they would have rolled off the assembly line.
